Capri from Sorrento boat tour schedule
A private car will pick you up at your accommodation in the Sorrento peninsula and drive you to the docks. We will leave soon after getting to know each other, sailing towards Capri, along the coast in the Punta Campanella protected marine area where you will see the ancient watchtowers once used to spot Saracin pirate ships.
We will talk about old local legends and the secrets of the fishermen who live off these waters. After around 20 minutes Luigi will sail around the island, showing you the grottos and coves of Capri. We will get close to the Faraglioni rocks and you will be able to do some snorkeling in these shining waters by the Green Grotto, not far from there.
Some trivia for you: the name “Capri” probably comes from the latin capreae (goats). In the past the island was inhabited by some ancient population: one of them, the Teleboi, used to raise goats as their main activity. Even today, watching carefully, you might spot some goats jumping among the rocks
Once you’re back on the boat, you will go towards the Blue Grotto and get a chance to visit it on a small rowing boat. The interior of the grotto is a unique sight!
After sailing around the island, we will bring you to the typical restaurant or to the Marina Grande port and where you will disembark and start your walking tour on the island. You will have 3 hours to visit the main sights of Capri. Our advice is to get to the “Piazzetta dell’orologio” (little square of the clock) and, from there, walk around the winding roads up to Augustus’ gardens. If you want to visit more places you can get a taxi: they do complete tours of the island in a shorter time.
We will then go back to the port and complete our excursion. It will be possible to dive one last time in one of the coves on the island and admire Capri from the sea once again.
We will set off at around 4:30 pm to go back to Sorrento, but before that we will taste together some great local limoncello liquor and, if you’re lucky, you’ll have seen some dolphins swimming in the blue waters between Naples and Salerno.
